Cut down a tree and played with my niece

Helped my brother-in-law chop down a tree in his backyard last Saturday. He had hired this 'tree dude' to cut it down and we then removed the branches and disposed of them at the municipal dump. The tree itself was not too difficult but the bloody roots! ... They're still in the ground actually. They will have to come out some other time, how exactly still remains to be seen. The bottom of the tree is almost 1m in diameter with roots branching out from there into the ground. And they will have to be removed to some depth as well because Roel (my brother-in-law) wants to put in a lawn... Anyway, that was Saturday.

I also got to spend a lot of time with my little niece Lotta. She's brilliant :)

The weekend before last I went skydiving again. It was great! Beautiful weather and I did three jumps, all of them with my friend from the States, Michael. It was a bit nippy up there... -20! at 12000 ft. Sooooooo cold! But what the hell, no pain, no gain :)

I've bought a new bike!

Heh, heh, heh! I got rid of the crappy junker I've been paddling around on for a long time now and bought the Rolls Royce among Dutch city bikes. A Gazelle! She's not new but has been fitted with new wheels and tires and everything works perfectly. Even the lights! Hah.

I now coast effortlessly throught Amsterdam on my trusty steel steed. Check out the pics below that I took today of this wonder of transportation :)

Oh by the way, I bought it (for quite a lot of money actually) at this little shop called 'Het Zwarte Fietsenplan' www.hetzwartefietsenplan.nl It seems like a pretty cool outfit so if you're in the market for a proper bike (as opposed to one purchased from a junky) check out this place...
