€9,99 for an HD movie that I know is good...

Just bought The Art of Flight on iTunes for €9,99... not sure yet how I feel about that price point. I know it's going to be a cool movie so it's sort of ok.

UPDATE: DRM... ok, so €9,99 is not so bad I guess but having to then watch the damn thing through iTunes and not VLC. Fuck that!

UPDATE 2: won't copy to my iPhone for some stupid (DRM) reason.

UPDATE 3: I decided to just torrent the damn movie at home because I forgot to put the file on my laptop and didn't dare download it again from iTunes (and possibly pay again for the same movie).

Have a vote.

En thx voor dit:

Parallels upgrading scheme

I bought Parallels Desktop virtual machine a long time ago to run IE (and Windows) on my Mac and really loved it. But these days they just release paid upgrades every few months without adding any compelling features at all...

And then they keep nagging me about upgrading. I think it's time to give Virtualbox a try and maybe ditch Parallels altogether. Especially when they start pissing me off with quotes like these while pestering me for my money:

The P7 upgrade was a marked improvement over P6. When a software company does an upgrade and does more than fix a few bugs, when you go WOW every time, that impresses me. Parallels does that, over and over…— Paul Wolff

Yeah, NO!

Parallels, you suck.

If you can thank him, you can blame him.

sshftp - MacFusion - Transmit on a Mac

I just spent a good part of the day trying to figure out how to mount an ssh connection as a volume on my Mac filesystem.

TL;DR: buy Transmit for $34!

I started out by installing MacFuse only to find out (just after it finished installing) that it was no longer being developed and actually didn't work on Lion. Nor did it uninstall... Here I learned that by upgrading to this version it would work and also uninstall. So I did.

I then decided to try the combination OSX Fuse and MacFusion. That actually worked! ... But not well. It felt sluggish and cumbersome and failed to mount or timed-out all the time.

So I went with Transmit... paid the (hefty) $34 price and mounting was a breeze and very fast. There you have it. Use MacFusion if speed is not an issue. Pull your wallet if it is.
