Anyway, I've got my new iPhone 3GS 32GB Black after having lost my old 1st Gen iPhone and having tried a HTC Magic Android. I didn't like the HTC Magic much... :)
I've been using the iPhone a LOT since I got it and there's a number of apps that I really like, so I decided to post about them here. I'll take you through my home screens and give you a brief review of the ones that are worthwhile:
NB - the links to the iTunes store were made using: http://linktoapp.com/, cool!
Best Camera - €2.39 - program that has a nice set of in-built filters which allow you to quickly pimp the pics you take with the iPhone. Also has a feature to immediately upload to Facebook which is cool but which puts the pics in a folder called: 'Best Cam Photos' and with a default caption that is a shameless plug for the author and the app... this sucks! There is an option to change the caption, but it doesn't work. You CAN just save to the camera roll and then upload through the Facebook app but that's more work, so I don't. Anyway, the effects are cool (example) and on the website they have a gallery of the most recent pics uploaded and the best pics uploaded, sort of cool.
Facebook - duh. Immensely improved app since the last version. Although I haven't figured out how to see a group or how to search for people and invite them...
Hyves - Dutch social networking site (for children) that I use from time to time but that needs to be next to the Facebook app because stuff HAS to be grouped properly ;)
NERD!!
Remote - Control iTunes on your computer through your iPhone. Get an Airport Express (or two), hook up your stereo / speakers to it and control all music in your house with your iPhone...
Newsstand - €3.99 - Bad-ass RSS-reader with a killer interface. Syncs with Google Reader and allows you to click through to the article on the website without leaving the program. I use it a LOT!
... a lot of random crap ;) ...
MotionX GPS Lite - Haven't used it much yet, but the features seem pretty impressive. Has GPS tracking, a direction-up map (means the map points the way you do, Google Maps doesn't do that and it's hugely useful when lost, like I always am), waypoints and more.
Trein - €2.39 - Dutch app made by Dennis Stevense (a 20 year old). The app shows you all departing trains from nearby stations (including delays), it has a planner that just updates as time goes by, hugely useful and very well made.
Mobypictures - App (that I don't really use) for uploading pics to all kinds of websites at once.
Skype - Voip program that doesn't work over 3G (only wifi), fuck all Telecoms.
Fring - The same but for more than just Skype... (like Google Talk)
Shazam - Hear a song you don't know? Let Shazam listen to it and tell you. It actually works! :) Cool app, though rarely used.
All kinds of games, the first half are for my nieces (3 and 5) who can operate an iPhone really, really well (and hardly ever drop it :) Anyway, they LOVE the fishies (Koi Pond - €0.79)
I don't play anything on the iPhone except for Sandstorm which is an amazing FPS and it actually works, interface, graphics, game-play, everything... amazing!
That's it...
