Ok, so I've been trying to get Back to my Mac to work with my Livebox for some time now and couldn't find a lot of info, BUT got it working just now :)
1st) uPnP was not enabled by default on my Online.nl Livebox
2nd) The DNS didn't work so I switched to OpenDNS
3rd) ... that was it!
Setting uPnP to enabled meant going into my LiveBox, Advanced Settings, Network, uPnP. There it said in Dutch: 'Sta andere Netwerkgebruikers toe om de netwerkmogelijkheden van de Livebox te beheren' with a checkbox. Just check the box and apply... that's it. (Why it doesn't just say 'Enable uPnP' is a mystery to me...)
Then in Network (on whatever connection you use) go to Advanced and set 208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220 in the DNS box.
Done!
:)
*UPDATE*
This does not (yet) work at home where my Livebox is on an older firmware version (and I can't get it to update). It's an old, old Wanadoo box on Orange firmware that doesn't have the uPnP setting. Talked to customer service and they said they'd flash it for me... see how that plays out.
I've tried forwarding the necessary ports but that didn't do the trick either...
*UPDATE*
Talked to Online.nl about the firmware on my home Livebox. They told me they would update it remotely, and did (!). It is still however on Orange firmware, not Online.nl, and does not support uPnP. If you have internet AND a phone line from Online.nl they install their own firmware (with uPnP) otherwise you get Orange firmware (without it).
It seems that just forwarding the necessary ports for BTMM is not sufficient. Without uPnP it just doesn't work... :(
*SUCCESS!!!* :)
Online.nl were going to update my Livebox and let me know when they had... They didn't inform me of course but they did actually remotely update my box AND... it worked. I now have the option to enable uPnP on both my Liveboxes (at home and at the office) and BTMM works on both. Yay!
