My car got pimped yesterday :) I had it chip tuned by the gentlemen from Mobile Chiptuning www.mobile-chiptuning.nl. They came by the office in a van where they have all the gear necessary to do the job. In a very nicely equipped workspace in the back they can do the whole job (which doesn't take all that long actually).
They take off the windscreen wipers to dig out the computer, open it, remove the chip, clean it, stick it in a reader, download the existing software, save it (so they can put it back any time, if necessary), check the specifics of the software, find the right 'tuned' software for the car and computer (locally if they have it or they download it through a GPRS connection if the don't), upload it, put back the chip, put back the computer, put back the windscreen wipers, get paid and leave... Oh and of course you go for a test drive...
And man, does my Golf haul ass! 130 bhp and endless torque... :) The difference (30%!) is mind blowing! Hopefully, it doesn't ruin my engine and hopefully I can control myself a little and won't burn through a set of tyres too quickly :)
